Letting Go and Letting God in ED Recovery
Scripture:
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
How This Relates to Recovery:
Recovery can feel heavy.
Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
The fear of letting go.
The uncertainty of what's ahead.
The constant thoughts that seem impossible to escape.
You may find yourself carrying these burdens silently, believing you need to figure everything out on your own before you can truly heal.
But God never designed you to walk through recovery alone.
He doesn't ask you to carry every fear, manage every outcome, or hold yourself together through your own strength. He invites you to bring it all to Him.
The thoughts you're afraid to say out loud.
The fears about recovery.
The exhaustion from trying so hard.
Surrender is not giving up on your healing.
Surrender is trusting that God can carry what was never yours to hold alone.
Sometimes the most courageous prayer is simply: "God, I need You."
And often, that is where healing begins.
Are you ready to go deeper? Ask yourself: What am I carrying today that God is inviting me to release?
This week, practice surrendering one burden to God each day.
That may look like:
• Bringing your fears honestly to Him in prayer
• Releasing the pressure to have recovery figured out
• Reaching out for support instead of struggling alone
• Trusting God with today's step instead of worrying about tomorrow
Prayer:
God, thank You for caring about every part of my healing journey. Help me release the fears, pressures, and burdens I've been carrying on my own. Teach me to trust You more deeply and remind me that I do not have to walk this road alone. Give me the courage to lean on You, receive support, and take the next step in faith. Amen.
Glow forward this week!
