When God Meets You in Recovery
Scripture:
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Recovery can feel incredibly heavy. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
The overthinking. The fear around food. The pressure to “do recovery right.” The constant exhaustion from trying to hold everything together.
A lot of women silently carry recovery like it’s something they have to figure out alone. But Jesus never asked you to heal by relying only on your own strength.
He invites weary people to come to Him honestly.
Not polished. Not perfect. Not after they “get it together.” Just weary.
And maybe that’s where healing begins: not in trying harder, but in finally letting yourself be supported.
Want to go deeper? Ask yourself today: “Where have I been trying to carry recovery completely on my own?”
This week, practice inviting God into a specific recovery moment rather than immediately trying to control it yourself.
Maybe that looks like:
• Praying before a difficult meal
• Reaching out instead of isolating
• Taking one recovery step even while afraid
• Letting yourself receive support without guilt
Prayer:
God,
I’m tired of trying to carry everything alone. Help me surrender the pressure to have recovery all figured out. Teach me how to lean on You instead of only relying on myself.
Amen.
Glow forward this week!
